Feedback via Slack
Branco collects feedback through an automated Slack bot — no forms, no portals, no extra tools. Just short conversations in the app your team already uses.
How it works
The Branco bot sends direct messages to team members in Slack with short, focused questions. There are two types of feedback conversations:
1. Peer / Direct / Mentee feedback
- Quick questions about team goals, skills, and competencies
- Designed to be fast and easy to answer
- Limited to once per week so it doesn't become noise
2. Self-reflections
- Short self-reflection prompts focused on progress, growth, and development
- Sent every two weeks
Branco's AI automatically summarizes and analyzes feedback, so responses can be quick, informal, and unpolished. Encourage your team to just answer honestly — the AI does the heavy lifting of turning raw responses into structured insights.
If the bot asks about something you or your team members don't have visibility into, you can reply "skip this one" and the bot will move on. It's better to skip than to guess.
What the bot looks like in Slack
The Branco bot appears as a direct message in Slack. A typical conversation looks like this:
Branco — "Hi, I'm here to gather some feedback to support your growth. First, let's discuss the team's objective. Could you share how you feel you've contributed recently?"
Team member — (shares a quick, informal response)
Branco — (acknowledges and may ask a follow-up)
The whole exchange takes a minute or two. Responses flow directly into the Feedback Hub and power insights across Dashboard, My Career, Action Plans, and Reports.
What you need to do as a manager
Honestly, not much. The Slack bot handles feedback collection automatically. Your role is to:
- Encourage participation — Let your team know that quick, honest responses are all that's needed.
- Set the tone — If your team sees you engaging with feedback (giving it, reviewing it, referencing it in 1:1s), they'll take it seriously.
- Review the results — Check the Feedback Hub and Reports to see what's coming through.
If feedback isn't flowing, check with your admin that the Slack integration is connected and that FEEDBACK_ACTIVE is turned on in Settings. See the Integrations page for details.
