Integrations

Branco connects to two external services — Slack for feedback collection and BambooHR for employee data sync. Slack is essential; BambooHR is optional.

Slack Bot (required)​

The Branco Slack bot is the primary way feedback is collected. Without it, most of Branco's features won't have data to work with.

What it does​

  • Sends direct messages to team members in Slack with short feedback questions
  • Collects peer feedback (once per week) and self-reflections (every two weeks)
  • Feeds results into Dashboard, Feedback Hub, My Career, Action Plans, and Reports

How to connect​

  1. Navigate to Integrations in the sidebar.
  2. Under Slack Bot Integration, click "Enable Branco".
  3. Authorize the bot in your Slack workspace when prompted.
  4. The bot will begin reaching out to active users on its configured cadence.
Connect Slack before rolling out Branco

If your team starts using Branco before Slack is connected, they'll see empty dashboards and career pages with no data. Get Slack connected first, give it a week or two to collect initial feedback, then announce the rollout.

Troubleshooting​

  • Bot not sending messages? Check that FEEDBACK_ACTIVE is toggled on in Settings.
  • Some users not getting messages? Make sure they're active in User Management and have Slack accounts in your workspace.
  • Feedback not showing up in Branco? It can take a short time for responses to process. If it persists, check the integration status on this page.

BambooHR (optional)​

If your organization uses BambooHR as its HRIS, you can connect it to automate user data sync.

What it syncs​

  • Employee names and contact details
  • Manager assignments
  • Hire dates and probation dates
  • Job titles (configurable field)

How to connect​

  1. Navigate to Integrations in the sidebar.
  2. Expand the "Other integrations" accordion.
  3. Enter your BambooHR subdomain.
  4. Click "Connect to BambooHR".

Important details​

  • The sync runs daily and is read-only (BambooHR → Branco only).
  • Changes made directly in Branco may be overwritten on the next sync.
  • The job title field can be configured via HRIS_SYNC_TITLE_FIELD in Settings.
  • You can disable the sync anytime with the HRIS_SYNC_ACTIVE toggle in Settings.
