User Management

Add, view, and manage the people in your organization — assign roles, titles, teams, and control active/inactive status.


What is it?

User Management is the admin hub for managing everyone in your Branco instance. You can add new users, assign them to teams, set their roles and titles, and deactivate users who've left the organization. If you have a BambooHR integration connected, user data can also sync automatically from your HRIS.

Admin only

User Management is located at /admin/users and is only accessible to users with admin permissions.


What you'll see

The page is organized into two tabs, each with a count badge showing how many users are in that state:

Active tab

A table of all active users in your organization:

Inactive tab

The same table layout, but showing deactivated users. Inactive users can no longer log in but their historical feedback and data are preserved.


Key actions

Adding a user

Click "+ New User" to add someone to your Branco instance. You'll need to provide their name, email, role, title, and team assignment.

Email matters

The email address you enter must match the one the user will log in with. Double-check this before saving — mismatched emails mean the user won't be able to access their account.

Editing a user

Click on a user row to open their profile and update their role, title, team, or other details.

Deactivating a user

When someone leaves the organization, deactivate them rather than deleting. This preserves their feedback history, goal contributions, and other data while removing their access.

Deactivate, don't delete

Deactivating a user keeps their historical data intact — feedback they gave and received, goal progress, and 1:1 history all remain in the system. This is important for maintaining accurate team reports and feedback records.

Searching and filtering

  • Use the search bar to find a user by name or email.
  • Use the filter icon for additional filtering options.
  • The "..." context menu provides bulk and export actions.

HRIS sync

If your organization has connected BambooHR, user data syncs automatically on a daily basis. The sync brings in employee details, manager assignments, hire dates, and probation dates. The field used for job titles is configurable in Settings via the HRIS_SYNC_TITLE_FIELD setting.

HRIS sync is read-only

The BambooHR sync imports data into Branco — it doesn't push changes back to BambooHR. If you update a user's title in Branco, it may be overwritten on the next sync. Make changes in BambooHR first and let them sync over.

Getting started

  1. Navigate to Users in the admin sidebar (left sidebar, bottom group).
  2. Click "+ New User" to add your first team member.
  3. Assign them a role, title, and team.
  4. Repeat for each person in your organization.
  5. If you use BambooHR, connect it via Integrations to automate future user syncing.

  • Teams — Create teams before adding users so you can assign them during setup.

  • Integrations — Connect BambooHR to sync user data automatically.
  • Settings — Configure HRIS sync behavior and probation settings.
